A lucky 13th double-double by Megan Ellis kept the Portland State Vikings perfect in Big Sky conference women's volleyball last weekend.
The Alpha Secondary grad and Portland State outside hitter made 20 kills and had 13 digs to lead the NCAA Division I Vikes to a straight set victory over Montana State at home last Friday.
It was the second time this season and fifth time in her career that Ellis has recorded 20 or more kills in a single match.
The Portland State senior chipped in with her 14th double-double the following night in a two-game sweep over Montana State.
Ellis added 13 kills and 10 digs in the four-set win on Saturday that improved the Vikings' record to 13-1 in conference play.
"She's coming out every night and playing well," said Portland State head coach Michael Seemann of Ellis in an online press release. "She's our steadiest player, even emotionally. Whether we're down or up, she stays the same. She keeps us anchored and we followed her lead tonight."
2nd tourney title
The No. 7-ranked Moscrop boys won a second high school volleyball tournament, following a win at J.N. Burnett last weekend.
Moscrop swept Centennial 25-21, 25-19 in the tournament final.
Outside hitters Jonathan Kum, Ricky Sun and middle Joey Wong combined for 15 kills.
Power hitter J.J. Cross, libero Marcus Jung and setter Zach Or were named to the all-tournament team for Moscrop.
