Burnaby siblings in top 20 at junior worlds champs

Françis finished the three-round competition with a four-under-par 67 and a final round one-over total of 214 to finish as the top Canadian at the Morgan Run Resort and Club.

The 14-year-old Françis opened with a 71 but took himself out of the running with a 76 on the second day.

Rhett Rasmussen of the Unites States edged China's Cheng Jin by a single stroke, carding a two-under 69 through the final 18 yards to finish with a nine under 204.

In the pre-teen girls' division, 12-yearold Sumie Françis tied for 18th in the girls' 11 and 12 grouping.

The younger Françis finished the 54hole competition with a 12-over-par 231, 14 shots back of co-leaders Sifan He of China, Sara Ota of Japan and Thailand's Paphangkorn Tayatanakit, who all finished at 217.

PROVINCIAL JUNIOR RESULTS

Kevin Li was the highest finishing golfer from Burnaby at this year's B.C. junior boys' championships in Roberts Creek last week.

Li carded a one-over-par 73 in his final round at the Sunshine Coast Golf Club to finish in a tie for 23rd place with a 301 total.

Lucas Gatto of Burnaby placed one shot back at 14-over-par.

Wyatt Racette of Burnaby finished the 72-hole competition at 310, while Alan Tulosso withdrew after 36 holes and trailing the leaders by just 10 shots.

Matthew Broughton of Victoria, who took over the overall lead from Kevin Ko of Coquitlam in the third round with a three-under 69, beat Ko by two strokes with a final round 70.
