Burnaby elementary schools dominated the Lower Mainland Catholic schools soccer finals last week.
North Burnaby's St. Helen's School won the juvenile boys' title over 25 other school teams with a 2-1 shootout victory over Our Lady of Fatima.
In the 26-team senior division, Holy Cross Elementary eged St. Helen's 1-0 in an all-Burnaby championship final.

Burnaby Lake ended a three-game losing slide with an emphatic 52-0 bonus-point victory over Bayside in premier men's rugby action on Saturday.
Prop forward Anthony Luca was named Burnaby's player of the game.
Craig McLaughlin also scored in his premier debut for Burnaby Lake.

Megan Ellis chalked up her 15th and 16th double-doubles of the season for the Portland State University women's volleyball team in a two-game split in Big Sky conference play last weekend.
Portland State tied for first place with Idaho State atop the Big Sky standings both with 14-2 records.
Unbeatable
Burnaby's RuiLin Huang won her 35th straight collegiate badminton tournamet, leading the Douglas College Royals team to a sweep at the second PacWest tournament at Vancouver Island University last weekend. Huang won the women's singles, while also sharing the mixed doubles title with Nathan Choi.

Lindsey Pulice and Isabella Di Trocchio of Burnaby helped Trinity Western University to a 2-1 victory the University of Victoria in the gold-medal final of the Canada West conference women's soccer championships.
Pulice had one shot on goal during the match, while Di Trocchio came on as a second-half substitution. The win was Trinity Western's second straight provincial university title.
Rookie scores
Burnaby South Secondary grad Adam Helewka scored his fourth goal of the Western Hockey League season for the Spokane Chiefs in a 5-0 win over the Everett Silvertips on Saturday.
Helewka is currently 17th in WHL rookie scoring with seven points and a plus-three.
A good trade
Bo Pellah assisted on a goal in his first game for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs after being dealt to the B.C. Hockey League club from Langley last week.
Alberni Valley defeated the Coquitlam Express 5-3 in the Nov. 3 matchup.
