Burnaby's Whitney Rowe finished second in a recent 100-metre sprint for Colorado Mesa University. The Burnaby Mountain grad placed runner-up in a time of 12.21 at the University of Nevada Las Vegas Track Classic on March 6.

Three local athletes were named to Scotland's national team for the upcoming under-19 world field lacrosse championships in Finland in July. Allan McLucas and James McBride of New Westminster will join Burnaby's Bradley Breadon on the Scottish squad.

A fine finish

Julia Scigliano of Burnaby finished off the National Ringette League season with five points in a weekend sweep over the Saskatoon Wild.

Scigliano led the Lower Mainland Thunder to a 4-2 win over the Wild Saturday, sparking a threegoal comeback win with a goal and two assists. She also posted a pair of helpers in Sunday's 9-3 victory. The Thunder finished second in the Western Conference two points behind the Prairie Fire.

What a week

Brent Lawrence had a stellar week at the ballpark for Northern State University.

Lawrence hit a walkoff two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Northern a 9-8 win over Indiana Wesleyan last week. He also had three hits, including a double and a two-run triple against Simpson College, finishing an eight-game stand batting .348 with six runs scored and seven runs batted in.
