Katerina Boiko won the women's singles tennis title at the 81st Stanley Park Open.

Katerina Boiko won the women's singles tennis title at the 81st Stanley Park Open.

The 17-year-old Burnaby righthander mowed down the opposition in straight sets, including a 6-2, 7-5 victory over third-seed Jena Cheng of Edmonton in the championship final on Sunday.

Boiko, the No. 1 seed, knocked off No. 4 Victoria player Kelsey Anonsen 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals.

The victory spoiled Cheng's hopes for a rare Stanley Park tennis triple.

The unseeded team of Cheng and Wan-Yi Sweeting of Vancouver went on to win the women's doubles over top seeds Anonsen and Monica Neveklovska of West Vancouver 7-6, 6-2 in the final.

Cheng also teamed up with Carson Bell of Edmonton to win the open mixed doubles title following a 6-2, 6-3 upset win over the No. 5 seeds Anonsen and Stanley Park men's singles champion George Jecminek of Port Coquitlam.

Jecminek, the No. 3 singles seed, defeated top seed and defending champion Henry Choi of Vancouver in the men's final.

Jecminek's win ended Choi's string of four wins in five straight Stanley Park men's finals.
