Cara Lukawesky threw her first career no-hitter for the Simon Fraser University women'in game one of a weekend sweep of the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders on Saturday.

Lukawesky turned in a flawless performance for the Clan, mowing down seven Nazarene hitters on strike en route to a 6-0 victory in the opening game a double-header in Nampa, Idaho.

"The team played great today," said Lukawesky, in an SFU press release. "My catcher called a great game and I was hitting my spots. The no-hitter was really a combination of Brittany (Ribeiro) calling a great game and the defence playing well behind me."

The victory was Lukawesky's eighth win of the season.

The Clan jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Kelsey Haberl of Burnaby started things off in the opening inning getting on base with two out after being hit by a pitch.

A pair of singles by Leah Riske and Brittany Ribeiro of Burnaby drove in Haberl, and after a double steal, a single by Sammie Olexa scored two more for the Clan. A pitching error allowed Olexa to also score later in the inning.

SFU also won the later game 5-0 on Kelsie Hawkins' sixth win this season.

"I think any team in the conference would like to get two pitching performance's like we got today," said head coach Mike Renney. "It's great to come in here and get four wins. Our pitching was solid throughout and even though our defence was a bit erratic, we dug in when we needed to."

A five-run third inning was the key to the Clan's victory in game two, as Hawkins turned in a strong six innings of work before freshman Carling Hare (Delta, BC) came on in the seventh to secure the victory for the Clan.

Hawkins allowed only four hits and one earned run.

retiring the Crusaders in order to secure the series sweep for SFU.

The sweep improves the Clan's record to 13-4 on the year and 9-3 in conference play.
