Lindsey Butterworth was named the Great Northwest conference athlete of the week after posting the sixth-fastest 800 metre time in conference history.
"This is a great honour," said Butterworth. "I'm fortunate to have great training partners that I have been working with for a long time now which is helping me be successful. I just really feel ready for the GNAC meet this weekend and I'm looking forward to the outdoor season."
Butterworth finished 12th at the Husky Classic, hosted by the University of Washington, finishing in a time of 2:11.03.
"Lindsey is amazing," said SFU head coach Brit Townsend. "She has really impressed with her attitude and work ethic. She never hesitates to take on an extra event for the team which she'll be doing at the conference meet in Idaho this weekend. She is such a super competitor with a great drive to improve."
Clan runners Butterworth, Sarah Swatzky and Michaela Kane have run the three fastest 800-m times in the conference this season.
