Burnaby university men have tough weekend on the road

The Clan fell short 84-78 at Northwest Nazarene on Saturday after a 92-79 loss to Central Washington on Feb. 16.

Justin Brown led the Clan in both matchups posting a total of 47 points, including 24 in the opening game.

SFU managed to keep the score to within three points, 38-35, against the high-scoring Central Washington team in the first half.

Against Northwest Nazarene, Connor Lewis chipped in with 22 points, including five three-pointers and five-for-five at the charity stripe to help out the Clan cause. Jordan Sergent also posted a game-high 11 rebounds.

SFU led for most of the opening half, taking a 41-36 lead into the locker room at the half.

The Clan built up an eight-point lead on a Lewis try to open the second half.

But Nazarene came back on a 13-3 run to take back the lead.

Lewis converted a three-point play to put the visitors back on top 64-63.

Eleven seconds later, Nazarene reclaimed the lead and held on to it for the remainder of the game.

SFU's record fell to 8-15 with the loss and 3-12 in conference play.

The Clan men finish their season at home against Montana State-Billings on Thursday before hosting Seattle Pacific on Saturday in the West Gym. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
