The Simon Fraser University men's basketball team staged a last-minute comeback to post its first Great Northwest conference win of the season.
The Clan overcame a 32-23 halftime deficit to post a 65-61 victory over the University of Alaska Fairbanks on the road Saturday.
Comeback leader Jordan Sergent led the Clan in both points and rebounds, with 20 and eight, respectively.
Justin Brown also contributed 19 points to the team's first conference win.
"Even though we started the second half slow too, we hung around and the guys played great in the last eight minutes," said SFU assistant coach Chris Cline in a prepared release. "With about five minutes left we were down 59-53 and the guys pulled together, made stops and hit free throws, and we outscored them 12-2 to finish the game. It feels great for us to get this win."
A Sergent layup started the charge back to close the deficit to six points.
The win improved the Clan's overall record to 6-9. SFU is 1-6 and ninth overall in conference standings.
Earlier, the Clan failed to hold off a late comeback by Alaska Anchorage in an 86-81 loss last Thursday.
Brown and Sergent led the Clan in scoring with 26 and 23 points, respectively.
Ibrahim Appiah also had a strong outing, leading SFU with 10 rebounds, while also chipping in with eight points, three assists, three steals and one blocked shot.
