Massimo Rizzo of Burnaby, a 2001-aged hockey player earned two provincial gold medals in the same year.
Rizzo played for the Burnaby Winter Club peewee A2 team that won gold this year at the Tier 2 provincial championships in Salmon Arm, a first for a winter club A2 team.
A day later, Rizzo was asked to play for the winter club's peewee A1 team in the Tier 1 provincial championship game on the following night at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver against the North Shore Winter Club A1s. There, Rizzo won his second provincial gold medal and banner in 24 hours.
By all accounts, winning two provincial gold medals and banners in the same year is another first.
