Ryan Nugent-Hopkins helped Team Canada to first place in Group Helsinki at the International Ice Hockey Federation world championships.
The 19-year-old Burnaby Winter Club product had an assist on Canada's go-ahead goal in the second period by Jeff Skinner in a 5-3 come-from-behind win over host Finland on Friday.
The Edmonton Oilers rookie centre also tallied his third goal of the world tournament in an 8-0 romp on Saturday over Kazakhstan, which with the loss will be relegated to the lower level Group A world championship next year.
Nugent-Hopkins also scored in Canada's 5-1 win over Belarus on Tuesday.
The United States remained in second place after eking out a 3-2 win in overtime against the same Kazakhstan squad on Friday.
Canada's only loss in the tournament so far came at the hands of the Americans 5-4 in overtime on May 5.
The Canadians will play Slovakia in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
Team Russia won the Sweden group and therefore would not see Canada before a possible gold-medal showdown.
The powerhouse Russians have knocked off Canada at the last four world championships, including in the 2008 and 2009 finals.
The semifinals will take place on Saturday with gold-and bronze-medal finals played on Sunday, May 20.
