Canada wins 10th match of season

Canadian national captain Christine Sinclair booted the women's soccer team to its third consecutive double-digit season in wins last week.

Sinclair's goal in the 30th minute was all the Olympic-bound women's team needed to defeat Colombia 1-0 in Vevey, Switzerland.

The win was Canada's 10th in 14 international matches this season, marking a Canadian Soccer Association record third straight season with 10 wins or more for the women's squad.

Sinclair's goal, her 15th of the year, was one off the national record the South Burnaby star set in 2007. It also marked the third time Sinclair has scored 15 goals in a season. She matched that goal production in 2000 and bettered it in '07.

The goal was Sinclair's program-leading 135th of her international career.

The Canadian team will remain in Switzerland for training until July 18, before travelling to England, where it will be based in Coventry for its first two Olympic women's football tournament matches.

Canada is scheduled to play Japan on July 25, South Africa on July 28 and Sweden on July 31 in Newcastle.
