Ryan Nugent-Hopkins captained Team Canada to a 9-3 win over Germany in the opening game of the World junior hockey championships in Ufa, Russia on Boxing Day.
Nugent-Hopkins scored a goal and was in on all of the team's first four goals in the opening 25 minutes of play.
The North Burnaby star was named Canada's player of the game, finishing with five points, including three assists in a runaway 5-2 second period.
Canada takes on Slovakia today (Friday) before finishing up pool play with games against the U.S. on Dec. 30 and host Russia on Dec. 31.
