Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby had a career night in a 9-2 victory over the NHL's top team.
The 18-year-old North Burnaby product assisted on five goals to help lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 9-2 victory over the Western conference-leading Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.
Nugent-Hopkins, the first overall pick in the 2010 draft, was named the game's second star. His five points moved the rookie centre into a tie for 17th place with Oilers teammate Ryan Smyth and others in overall NHL scoring.
Nugent-Hopkins has scored seven goals and 12 total points in 19 games played this season.
ICE ROCK ROYALS
Burnaby Winter Club product Elgin Pearce was the first star for the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League in an 8-3 win over the Victoria Royals last Saturday.
Pearce tallied a hat trick as the Ice rocked the Royals with eight straight goals before Victoria could mount a late reply in the second period.
In other major junior hockey action, Luke Lockhart of Burnaby had a goal and two assists in the Seattle Thunderbirds' 6-3 win over the Portland Winterhawks on Nov. 19. Lockhart was named the game's third star.
FIRST TWO GOALS
Burnaby's Jesse Fratkin was named the game's first star for the Stockton Thunder in the team's 3-1 victory over the Ontario Reign in East Coast Hockey League play on Nov. 19.
Fratkin, playing in just his second game for the Thunder, scored two thirdperiod goals, including the game-winner with his firstever pro tally.
FIRST SEASON WIN
University of Alaska Fairbanks senior Carlo Finucci tallied a goal and one helper to help give the Nanooks their first win in the Central Collegiate hockey league this season.
Finucci scored his fifth goal of the season in Alaska's 2-0 victory over No. 6 Ferris State on Saturday.
The win snapped an eight-game winless streak and lifted the Nanooks out of the CCHA conference cellar.
