Chiefs' Leyh holds hot stick

Leyh, who is tied for the league scoring lead, tallied five goals and six assists during the team’s current three-game winning streak.

The Chiefs blasted the Silvertips by a combined 16-2 over two games, with seven different players counting goals in the first match, including Burnaby's Christian Buono and Jonny Sheardown.
Leyh, a Port Moody native, has 16 goals and 15 assists in 14 games.

A week ago, the Chiefs split a pair of games with the Kootenay Ice, falling 5-2 in the opener before bouncing back for a 6-2 win. New Westminster's Liam Ryan picked up three points in the second game, while Leyh tallied two goals and two assists.

Over the past four games, Buona counted three goals, while Sheardown, a defenceman, scored twice and set up another.

The Northeast Chiefs, who draw players from Burnaby, New Westminster, Tri-Cities and Ridge Meadows, sit third overall with a 12-4-0-2 record, after rolling through November 6-2.

They play the fourth-place Valley West Hawks this weekend, finishing a home-and-home series Sunday, 10:45 a.m. at the Poirier Sports Centre in Coquitlam.
