Simon Fraser University softball pitcher Kelsie Hawkins was named the Red Lion pitcher of the week and shortstop Danielle Raison received the Red Lion player of the week award in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Hawkins tossed a pair of shutouts in three starts on the Clan's trip through Hawaii last week.
Hawkins blanked BYU-Hawaii 8-0 last Wednesday, allowing six hits in six innings. The junior walked two and struck out nine.
She went on to shutout Chaminade the following Friday by the same score, allowing just three hits in five innings. Hawkins didn't walk a batter and struck out seven.
For the week, she posted a 2.19 earned run average, allowing 16 hits and five runs, while fanning 18 in 16 innings. Raison also had seven hits in 19 at bats for the Clan in Hawaii, driving in six runs and scoring a team-high seven runs. She also hit a pair of home runs, both in the Clan's 8-0 shutout of Chaminade on Friday.
The pair's performances helped the Clan to a 4-2 record against their Hawaiian opponents.
The Simon Fraser softball team will be back in action on March 2 when they visit their crosstown rivals the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in Vancouver.
