Coming off a solid 5-1 win over Vancouver Island University last week, the Simon Fraser Clan hockey team is eyeing another Island opponent.

This Friday at Bill Copeland Arena, the SFU squad aims to keep up what they've started so far in 2018 -- winning.

At 9-5 on the season, good for third place in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League, SFU has shown flashes of high skill and on-ice domination.

Last week, led by the line of Brendan Lamont, Mac Colasimone and Jaret Babych, the Clan steamrolled VIU for the club's third straight win. The three combined for eight points and looked like a recommissioned West Coast Express.

“I don’t know what that’s all about,” said Lamont. “Even from the first practice, we’re just clicking and then from the first game, we just had something — I don’t know what it is, but we just clicked.”

While that streak gets tested tonight (Thursday) against first-place Trinity Western in Langley, standing firm on home ice Friday against fifth-place UVic will be a tough test.

The puck drops at 7 p.m.
