Clan finish sixth at Notre Dame golf Invitational

The Simon Fraser University men's golf team finished in seventh place at the Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational on Tuesday. Over three rounds, the Clan finished just one stroke back of sixth-place Holy Names University.

Over three rounds, the Clan finished just one stroke back of sixth-place Holy Names University.

John Mlikotic was the Clan's top golfer, finishing in a tie for 21st place with rounds of 76, 77 and 78 to finish with a three-round total of 231, 15 strokes above par.

Junior Michael Belle of Burnaby was second on the Clan and 23rd overall as he shot 79 in each of his first two rounds, before shooting a 74 in the final round for a 16-over-par total of 232.

Freshman Bret Thompson had a tough start to his tournament with an opening round score of 85, before bouncing back to finish at 23-over.

Calum Miller and Burnaby's Lucas Gatto also competed for the Clan at the tournament.

Cal State University East Bay won the event, while CSU East Bay golfer Chris Herzog won on the individual title with a score of 217.

The Clan men's golf team will be back in action at the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona, beginning on March 25.
