Clan grad headed to Europe with Team Canada

Simon Fraser University alumna Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe is headed to Europe for a series of exhibition games with the Canadian senior women's national basektball team.

Simon Fraser University alumna Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe is headed to Europe for a series of exhibition games with the Canadian senior women's national basektball team.

Raincock-Ekunwe was one of 29 players at the tryout camp held at the David Braley Athletic Centre at McMaster University from May 17 to 19 and is one of 14 players selected to make the trip to Europe.

The team will start their series of exhibition games with a pair against the Czech Republic in Prague next Tuesday and Wednesday.

From there, the team will travel to Serbia for an exhibition tournament from May 31 to June 2, before finishing the European leg of their summer exhibition schedule with a tournament in France from June 7 to 9.

Raincock-Ekunwe is trying to earn a spot on the team that will represent Canada at the FIBA Americas tournament in September.

The SFU grad is coming off a senior season with the Clan that saw her average 16.8 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per outing with an NCAA Division II-best shooting percentage of 0.653.

She also broke the Great Northwest Athletic Conference mark for double-doubles, recording 63 career doubles that broke the previous record of 48.
