Simon Fraser University junior guard Sango Niang was named to the 2013-14 Great Northwest Athletic Conference second all-star team.
Niang joined the Clan this season after starting his collegiate career with Chaffey College.
In his first year at SFU, Niang started in 23 of the 24 games he played in and helped the Clan to the program's highest overall win total since moving to the NCAA Division II.
"I just tried to play aggressive all season, get my teammates involved and ultimately, tried to win games," said Niang in a Clan press release. "After the injury early in the season, I spent a lot of time in the weight room working to get better. Now, I'm just going to rest and come back at 100 per cent next season. I think as a team, we need to continue building chemistry. As a senior next season, I just want to work on being a better leader and most importantly, helping the team get more wins."
The junior finished eighth in the conference in points, scoring an average of 16.3 points per game and third in assists with 5.6 per game.
Niang becomes the second Clan player to earn a spot on a conference all-star team.
In 2012, Justin Brown got the nod, while last season, Taylor Dunn earned honourable mention, as did Ricky Berry after the Clan's inaugural Great Northwest season in 2010-11.
