The Simon Fraser University's men's soccer team managed a win and a draw following a long road swing through Idaho and Montana.
The Clan opened with a 3-1 comeback win over third-place Northwest Nazarene on Thursday before playing to a scoreless draw against fourth overall Montana State Billings on Saturday.
"Montana is a very tough team to beat at their place. They fought for everything. Their work rate was very impressive and it became an even match," said SFU head coach Alan Koch. "Considering all the travel on this trip, we'll take the four points."
In Idaho, SFU tallied three goals in the second half to steal the win from the host Crusaders.
Goalie Hide Ozawa made six saves to backstop the win for the Clan.
Michael Winter evened the score in the 65th minute with his fourth goal of the season, sliding towards the goal to chip the ball into the net.
Carlo Basso got the game-winner seven minutes later following a shot from the right side from 20 yards out.
Chris Bargholz added an insurance marker on a header in the 76th minute.
Against Montana State, the Clan appeared to have scored the game-winning goal in overtime off a scramble in front, but the referee call the play back on an SFU foul.
The draw moved the Clan's conference record to 9-1-1 in the Great Northwest league.
The Clan is back on the road this week, taking on Saint Martin's on Thursday before finishing up against second-place Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
The Clan men, named last week's Great Northwest team of the week, will wrap up conference play at home against Western Washington on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.
More road woes
The winless Clan women's soccer team came up empty on the road, losing a pair of 1-0 decisions to Montana State Billings and Northwest Nazarene.
Amanda Gilliland turned aside a total of 17 shots on goal in the two matches.
SFU is at home to Seattle Pacific on Thursday.
