Clan pitcher a player of the week

Simon Fraser University softball pitcher Kelsey Hawkins was named pitcher of the week in the Great Northwest conference. Hawkins shares the award with Sam Munger of Saint Martin's University.

The Clan played a single double-header this past weekend and Hawkins started for the Clan in Game 2 against Western Washington University.

The junior chucker allowed just two hits in the game, throwing a shutout and striking out 10 batters in the Clan's 7-0 win.

Hawkins didn't register a single walk in the game as she helped the Clan to improve its record to 7-0 in conference play.

The win improved Hawkins' record to 5-3 on the season as she boasts a 2.83 earned run average and is second in the conference in strikeouts with 50.

SFU won the earlier game 7-2 behind Cara Luka wesky's seven strikeouts.
