Meg Wilson will represent Canada at the World University Games next month.The Simon Fraser University forward was named to the 12-player women’s basketball team that will compete in the FISU Games in Gwanju, South Korea from July 5-13.
Wilson will be a senior with the Clan this fall. She averaged 12.9 points per game, while also pulling down 8.7 rebounds per contest and shooting 0.538 from the field.
The London, Ont. native will also play for the Development women's national team in an exhibition tournament in China from June 22 to 28, with games against the Czech Republic, China, and Brazil.
"International experience is key for the growth of these athletes. This summer will give 15 athletes the opportunity to play the international game," said Fabian McKenzie, head coach of the development women's national team in a press release. "It's an honour to coach this group and I look forward to us competing on the international stage."
Canada will open the FISU Games against Hungary on July 5 followed by games against Korea on July 6 and Mozambique on July 7. The women's basketball gold-medal game is scheduled for July 13.
