Simon Fraser University split four women’s volleyball games at the Hawaii Invitational last week.
The Clan dropped a pair of five-setters last Thursday, but came back the following day, posting its first two wins of the season.
SFU defeated Hawaii Pacific 3-1 in the first game and then beat Humboldt State 15-12 in a tiebreaker in a later five-set match.
Sophomore Christine Howlett, with a match-high 16 kills, and senior Jessica Young secured the win over Hawaii Pacific with back-to-back kills.
Against Humboldt State, SFU took the two opening sets but had to rally in the fifth set, getting the final two kills from Devon May.
“We did a great job of fighting in the close sets today and finding ways to win,” said SFU head coach Gina Schmidt in Clan press release.
