The Simon Fraser Universty Clan, seen here against Montana State Billings, wrapped up a fourth consecutive Great Northwest conference men's soccer title with a 1-0 double overtime win over Seattle Pacific last Saturday

It took double overtime for Simon Fraser University to secure a fourth consecutive Great Northwest conference men’s soccer title.

Jovan Blagojevic scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over second-place Seattle Pacific at home, handing the Falcons their first conference loss on Saturday.

Clan keeper Brandon Watson got the fifth shutout of the year, stopping all three shots fired his way in the first half of play.

Blagojevic counted the golden goal, knocking in his fourth game-winning goal in conference play this season, off an unassisted scramble in the box in the 106th minute of play.

“We’re ecstatic to win the conference championship again,” said SFU head coach Alan Koch in a Clan press release. “Seattle Pacific gave us a fantastic run for our money this year. They’re a great team, they’re well coached and hopefully both of us get the opportunity to represent (the conference) in the NCAA tournament.”

SFU dominated the contest, outshooting Seattle Pacific 14-5 in the contest.

With the win, the Clan improves its overall record to 15-1-1 and 11-1-1 in conference play.

Earlier in the week, SFU downed visiting Saint Martin’s Saints 1-0 at Terry Fox Field on Halloween night.

Ryan Dhillan, last week’s Great Northwest conference player of the week, scored the game-winner in the 69th minute from inside the six-yard box on an assist by Tarnvir Bhandal.

Watson made three saves in the game to record the shutout.

SFU will conclude its conference schedule this Saturday in Bellingham against the third-place Western Washington Vikings.
