Clan wrestlers fifth at U.S. nats

Simon Fraser University placed fifth overall at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association national championships. Six Clan wrestlers were named All-Americans, including the two SFU medallists, Manvir Sahota and Gurjot Kooner.

Six Clan wrestlers were named All-Americans, including the two SFU medallists, Manvir Sahota and Gurjot Kooner.

Sahota won a bronze medal at 197 pounds, while Kooner also earned a thirdplace medal in the super heavyweight division.

Sahota was 5-1 in the competition, avenging his only defeat to Paul Audila of Georgia, scoring a 3-1 win in the rematch to win bronze.

Kooner lost just one of eight matches, taking third sport with a victory over Daniel Demick of Notre Dame.

Also earning All-American status were fourth-place finishers Alex Stemer at 149 lb. and Clete Hanson at 184 lb. and fifthplace Skylor Davis at 125 lb. and seventh-place Max Arcand of Burnaby at 165 lb.
