Cliff Avenue United lost a three-way tiebreaker on goals against and had to settle for a bronze medal at the Les Sinnott Provincial Cup championships.

Cliff went on to score a 5-0 victory over Campbell River in the under-16 boys' consolation final in Prince George on Sunday.

"Honestly, I was really proud of the boys and how they handled themselves there, and how they represented Cliff Avenue and Burnaby," said coach Vito Lore. "We're proud of our achievements. It's the only trophy we didn't win."

Earlier this season, the Cliff Avenue team won the regular season league, district and Coastal Cup titles.

In the bronze-medal final, Yousif Masoud led the north Burnaby club up front, potting a pair of goals. Flavius Turdeanu, Kyle Whitehead and Michael Di Spirito also added single markers.

In pool play, Cliff tied with eventual runner-up Kelowna United and Terrace, all with identical 1-0-2 records. Kelowna advanced to the gold-medal final on the tiebreak.

North Van Fury, whom Cliff earlier defeated at the Coastal Cup championships, was unbeaten on the other side of the draw and went on to defeat the Okanagan rep 3-2 in the final.

In other cup results, Group B winner South Burnaby Metro Club Strikers finished in fourth place in the u-14 boys' final, losing 1-0 to bronze medal-winning Terrace.
