Coquitlam Adanacs defeated Delta in four straight games to win seventh junior A lacrosse playoff title

The No. 1-ranked Coquitlam Adanacs made short work of the Delta Islanders in the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League best-of-seven final.

The A’s swept the Delta club in four straight games, winning their seventh consecutive playoff title following a 16-8 win in Ladner on Tuesday.

Coquitlam put up big numbers in the final three games of the series, almost doubling the Islanders in overall goal output, after getting by Delta 9-8 in the opener on July 22.

Kitchener-Waterloo product Chris Cloutier, who led the Ontario junior A league in scoring before being picked up by Coquitlam, led the Adanacs with a playoff-high 40 points and 23 goals, averaging nearly five pops per game.

Cole Shafer also cashed in for Coquitlam with 15 goals and a playoff-best 22 assists.

Adanacs goalie Christian Del Bianco topped the playoffs with a 0.825 save percentage.

On Monday, the junior A’s took a stranglehold on the series with a 17-6 win in Coquitlam.

Cloutier had a monster game for the regular-season champs, tallying 11 total points, including a share in a game-high five goals apiece with Shafer.

Burnaby pickup Danny Spagnuolo scored six goals and garnered 10 points for the Islanders in the playoffs, including a hat trick in the fourth and final game of the series.

The Adanacs move on to a best-of-five regional series with the Okotoks Raiders, the winner of the Rocky Mountain junior A playoffs, beginning on Aug. 6.

The winner of that series will advance to the Minto Cup against the playoff champion of the Ontario league.
