In what was the final Great Northwest Athletic Conference tournament until the spring, Simon Fraser University’s Chris Crisologo picked up his first win of the 2017/18 season by carding a 4-under par 67 in the final round of the Concordia Invitational last week.

Buoyed by Crisologo’s come-from-behind effort and a handful of solid showings from teammates, SFU finished third overall in team standings.

He was among a pack of players who trailed UBC’s Diego San Pedro after two rounds, but jumped into the lead when his fellow Richmond native was disqualified for a clerical error on his scorecard.

But it took a big jump, as he stared at a seven-shot deficit after round 2.

Even after San Pedro’s withdrawal, Crisologo sat five shots back of the new leader with 18 holes to play. It proved no problem for the reigning 2017 GNAC player of the year. Crisologo fired a 67, after opening with rounds of 74 and 72, and won by three strokes.

He finished at even-par 213, leading Simon Fraser to a third-place team finish and the seventh win of his SFU career.

Simon Fraser posted three golfers in the top-25, as Sy Lovan ended the tournament tied for 14th after scoring an 8-over par 221 (74, 73, 74). Scott Kerr, who won his first tourney at Western Washington two weeks ago, was one stroke back of Lovan in 17th (74, 74, 74). Tied for 22nd, Marcus Brown posted a three-day total of 224.
