Cross-country runners earn honours

Simon Fraser University freshmen Peggy Noel and Kansas Mackenzie were awarded all-region honours in cross-country. Noel finished in 18th place in the 170-women field and Mackenzie came 20th in the six-kilometre NCAA west region championships.

Noel and Mackenzie were the first SFU runners to earn the regional honours.

As a team, the Clan women placed in sixth place and failed to move on to the Division II national championships.

Three Clan runners also garnered Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-academic team standing.

Senior biological science major Helen Crofts, and last year's SFU female co-athlete of the year, led the way with a 4.15 grade point average.

Also on the women's team was Kirsten Allen, who is a repeat winner with a 3.84 GPA in kinesiology.

Sophomore runner Austin Trapp represented the men's cross-country team on the all-academic team. Trapp carried a 3.20 GPA in kinesiology.
