The Simon Fraser University football team was left whistling Dixie following a 42-7 paddling by Dixie State in Utah last Saturday.

The varsity Clan secondary gave up three first-half touchdowns as Dixie State quarterback Cody Stevenson threw for three majors, including a 72-yard strike to receiver Jesse Ence early in the second quarter, to post its first win of the season.

Dixie State rushed for three more scores in the second half before Cole Tudor added a late six-pointer for the Clan.

SFU sacked Stevenson five times in the contest, but not before the Dixie pivot completed 17 of 24 passes for 211 yards.

Clan starting QB Trey Wheeler made good on just 13 passes for 51 yards. Tudor led all SFU rushers with 61 yards.

Defensively, SFU's Dan Martin had seven tackles and one sack.

The Clan returns home this week to take on Humboldt State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
