Burnaby's Remo Ruscitti made the podium at the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car championships at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Ruscitti, driving a Honda Civic Si for the Compass360 racing team, finished on the podium in three rounds of racing in the Touring Car category on the 2.3 mile, 20-turn national road course.

The rookie Italkart-trained racer earned 300 driver points over the weekend, including a runner-up finish in an opening 25-minute sprint in Round 1, won by Compass360 teammate Ryan Winchester.

In Round 2, Ruscitti made a final pass on the final leg of the 10-lap race to give Compass360 a three-car podium sweep and earning the competition's clean pass of the race award.

"It was cool to get the podium sweep for Compass360," said Ruscitt in a world challenge press release.

Ruscitti also finished third in the final round of racing at Circuit of the Americas.

Next up is a touring car event in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut in July. [email protected]
