Jamie Lincoln is returning to the Bill Copeland Sports Centre.
The Burnaby Lakers inked the former junior A MVP today (Tuesday), just in time for its scheduled Western Lacrosse Association showdown with the Maple Ridge Burrards at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre.
Lincoln, who played in the NLL this season with the New England Black Wolves and now living in Denver, is expected to play in Burnaby’s back-to-back meetings with the Burrards and Langley tomorrow.
“That’s what we need. He was excited we were interested in him,” said Lakers general manager Paul Rowbotham.
The 6-1, 185-pound lefthander from St. Catharines, Ont. was the property of the Peterborough Lakers of the Major Series Lacrosse, but did not play last summer.
Lincoln helped the eastern Lakers to a pair of Mann Cup titles in 2010 and 2012. He also helped the Langley Thunder of the WLA qualify for the Mann Cup in 2011.
As a junior, Lincoln was named the Most Valuable Player in the British Columbia Junior A League in 2007 after scoring 63 goals in 20 games for the Burnaby Lakers. He led the Burnaby juniors to three consecutive Minto Cup appearances, including a title in 2005.
The 29-year-old Lincoln is expected to see limited regular season action with the Lakers, while he concentrates on his summer lacrosse camps in Denver.
