Field lacrosse nationals to be played at Burnaby Lake-West

Burnaby Lake Sports Complex-West will be the venue for the national youth field lacrosse championships this week.

Connor Robinson of New Westminster will be among Team B.C.'s under-16 squad hoping to bring home the Alumni Cup against representative provincial squads from Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

The u-19 First Nations Cup will also run in conjunction with the teen's championship at Burnaby Lake, beginning Friday and running until Sunday.

Justin Goodwin, Drew House and goalie Rocky Bowman of New Westminster will make a part of the u-19 B.C., which will compete against Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Team Atlantic.

The B.C. Selects have won the First Nations Cup eight times since 1997. Ontario is the defending two-time national champion. B.C. has never won a u-16 national field title.

Games run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday morning, preliminary games finish off with u-16 medal matches beginning at 12:30 p.m. The finals of the First Nations Cup follow at 3:15 p.m.
