Burnaby's pain turned out to be the Langley Thunder's gain in the opening game of the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League best-of-three playoff on Wednesday.

Colton Dow, who was traded to the Thunder along with Burnaby captain Jaeden Gastaldo at the trade deadline, scored a pair of goals in Langley's 5-4 victory over the Port Coquitlam Saints at the Langley Events Centre July 11.

Another former Laker Brian Gillis assisted on both of Dow's second-period markers.

Thunder goalie Patrick Bayliss, who was dealt to Langley for future considerations in a separate pre-deadline deal, backstopped the win with 32 saves.

Game 2 of the series runs tonight at the PoCo rec centre, beginning at 8 p.m.
