Freshman golfer named to all-second team

Richmond freshman helped Simon Fraser University finish fifth at NCAA Division II championships

Simon Fraser University freshman Chris Crisologo of Richmond was named to the NCAA Division II PING All-America Second Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America today.

Nine golfers were named to the first team. Crisologo was among eight named to the second team.

Crisologo was also named the Great Northwest conference Freshman of the Year this season. He tied the low round of the year in the conference with a 66 at the conference championships and led the Clan in scoring in both the NCAA West/South Central Regional and NCAA championships.

At the NCAA championships, the Clan finished fifth in the stroke-play rounds, the highest ever by a Great Northwest team, becoming one of only eight teams to advance to match play. SFU fell to St. Leo University to tie for fifth place in the match play round.

SFU ended the year as the fourth-ranked team in Div. II according to Golfstat. The Clan had three golfers ranked in the top 36 nationally as well, led by Crisologo, who placed fifth.

Second Team

Mario Beltran of Barry, Simon Fraser’s Chris Crisologo, Chico State’s Alistair Docherty, KeithGreene of Lynn, North Alabama’s Forrest Knight, Oscar Lengdèn of Nova Southeastern, Saint Leo’s Joey Savoie and CSU Monterey Bay’s Carr Vernon comprised the second team.
