Girls earn silver and bronze at Hockey Cup

Marissa Nichol from 100 Mile House and Katie Young of Quesnel, with the game-winning goal, scored within the first seven minutes of the first period to put the North in the driver's seat.

Ramos replied soon after on a setup by Surrey's Amanda Pollock.

Ramos collected two goals and added three assists in the tournament that brought together six regional teams, including squads from Vancouver Island and the Okanagan.

New Westminster's Monica Disanjh also helped Team Green earn the silver medal at elite girls' hockey competion.

Lower Mainland Blue, including defender Justine Johnson and forward Megan Lai, both of Burnaby, defeated Kootenay 5-1 to claim the bronze medal.

B.C. Hockey's Female High Performance Program was established to identify and train athletes and team personnel for possible participation at provincial, national and international events. The objective of the program is to enhance the overall performance of B.C. athletes, coaches and officials in high-level sporting events.
