For the first three games of their best-of-seven semifinal, the Grandview Steelers appeared to be fighting against the current.

On Wednesday, with no other options but to win, the Steelers did just that, beating the Delta Ice Hawks 3-1 to extend the season for at least one more game.

Ian Prevost's marker at 7:42 of the second period proved to be the difference, coming just 31 seconds after Delta's Tetsuya Prior had tied the game.

While the visiting Ice Hawks had a strong advantage in shots -- 33-22 -- Grandview netminder Matteo Paler-Chow stopped all but one in forcing Friday's Game 5 in Ladner.

Also scoring for the Steelers were Mateo Coltellaro, who broke a scoreless tie with an unassisted effort four minutes into the second period, and Jacob Siebenga midway through the third period.

Facing elimination, Grandview will be vying to force a sixth game, which would be played Sunday, 4 p.m. at the Burnaby Winter Club.
