Burnaby’s Adam Helewka left it all on the ice as his Red Deer Rebels fell just short of a Memorial Cup final appearance.
Red Deer, the Western Hockey League hosts to the national junior hockey tournament, finished with a 2-2 record, advancing to the semfinal before getting bounced.
Helewka counted three goals and one assist over the four games, including a pair in the team’s 5-2 round-robin win over Rouyn-Noranda. In that game, the 20-year-old winger fired eight shots on net and was chosen the game’s second star.
