The month of March has been good to Burnaby's Jasmine Manhas.
Manhas ended her second appearance at a B.C. championship tournament with a gold medal in the midget A women's hockey championships in Richmond on March 20.
The Grade 11 Burnaby South Secondary student led all scorers at the provincials, helping guide the Richmond Ravens to a championship banner following a 5-3 victory over Tri Cities.
Manhas helped the Ravens off to a fast start, assisting on goals by Kaitlyn Yan and Carey Ogryzio in the opening minute of play. She also tallied an unassisted marker late in the first period to put Richmond ahead for good at 3-2.
The Burnaby forward opened the provincials with three assists in Richmond's 5-2 preliminary round victory over Tri Cities on March 17.
The following day, Manhas had a goal and one assist in a 5-1 win over Salmon Arm.
Manhas, who was a starting forward with the Burnaby South Rebels at the B.C. high school AAA girls' basketball championships where the team placed 13th, also registered a four-point outing in the Ravens' 5-0 win over Surrey.
Manhas posted the game-winning goal, opening the scoring in a two-goal opening period against Richmond's Pacific Coast league rival. Manhas also scored in the middle frame, while assisting two more Richmond scores.
The Ravens warmed up for the championship final with a 13-0 rout over Fair Play winners Smithers on the last day of competition.
Richmond tied for first place in the Pac Coast regular season with Surrey and Western Washington - all with 43 total points.
The Ravens went on to win the playoff round with a 3-0-1 record, eking out one-goal wins over Tri Cities and Surrey, while defeating North Shore 4-1. Richmond then beat Tri Cities 4-1 to win the playoff championship banner.
In Vernon, North Shore was nipped in the bantam female provincial final 2-1 by Terrace.
In the preliminary round, North Shore defeated the Interior girls 3-1 on a pair of markers from Mika Embury.
At the provincial peewee girls' championship, North Shore avenged an earlier 3-0 loss to the host Ravens, edging the Richmond team 3-2 in overtime in the banner final.
