Jr. B Steelers shoot down Pilots in OT

The Burnaby-based Grandview Steelers edged the Abbotsford Pilots 3-2 in overtime in Pacific Junior Hockey League play last Sunday

Vik Sanghera scored a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, for the Grandview Steelers in a 3-2 win over the Abbotsford Pilots.

Sanghera, the game’s first star, opened scoring on a first period power play, and then gave the fourth-place Burnaby-based Pacific Junior Hockey Club its 17th win of the season in the opening minute of overtime at the Burnaby Winter Club on Sunday.

Second star Sean Lan gave the Steelers a 2-0 lead late in the second period with his fourth goal of the season and first while shorthanded.

Abbotsford, currently in second place in the Harold Brittain conference, scored back-to-back goals in the final frame to force OT.

With three regular season games remaining on the schedule, Grandview will host third-place Delta Ice Hawks at the winter club on Sunday. Game time is 4 p.m.

The Steelers close out the regular season at home on Feb. 16.
