Local golfers teed off in Pitt Meadows this weekend, placing in the top 10 for both girls and boys 14 and under divisions.
Burnaby’s Skye Ku tied for 10th place in the junior boys under 14 Canadian Juniors Golf Association’s competition at Swan-e-set in Pitt Meadows with a score of 42. In the first round of play on Saturday, Ku finished four over par with a score of 42 after nine holes. On Sunday, he scored 91 on the par 72, 18-hole course. His total 133-stroke finish left him tied for 10th place.
Under 14 junior boys’ winners Andy Kim of Langley and Raymond Li of Vancouver finished a total of two strokes over par.
In the girls 14 and under division, Burnaby’s Jacklyn Duchen finished in third place – 23 strokes back from the leader.
Duchen scored 12 over par in the first round on Saturday with a score of 48 and followed that up with a 16 over par finish in the second round on Sunday. Her total score of 136 set her 28 over par in both rounds, 23 back from division winner, Cecile Kwon of Maple Ridge. Kwon finished the tournament at five over par.
Leo Harper, also from Burnaby, withdrew from the junior boys 14 and under division competition after the first round.
