The Burnaby Lakers slipped closer to the bottom of the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League following a 12-6 loss to the Langley Thunder at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Sunday.

The Lakers crumbled in the opening minute of the second period, surrendering two shorthanded goals to fall behind 5-1.

Simons tried to spark a mini-comeback with a shorthanded goal at 3: 14 of the third period.

Watson then scored a pair later in the frame to shave the deficit to 11-5.

"It's pretty frustrating - One time it's the strongest game we've played, the next time it's down the (toilet)," said Simons. "We just have to look forward to the next 20 minutes and come prepared."

With the loss, Burnaby's record fell to 2-7.

Next up for Burnaby is last-place Nanaimo at the Copeland centre on Sunday at 5 p.m.
