The Burnaby Lakers will miss the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League playoffs for a second consecutive season.

The junior A Lakers dropped three games in a four-day span, including a 15-6 loss to the firstplace Coquitlam Adanacs at home on Sunday. The A's led 12-2 after two periods of play.

On June 30, Victoria topped the Lakers 12-4 on the Island at the trade deadline.

Earlier, Burnaby let slip a victory in Langley, giving up five goals in the final period en route to an 11-9 defeat to the junior Thunder.

Following the game, Burnaby sent team captain Jaeden Gastaldo and Colton Dow to Langley in return for future considerations.

Team scoring leader Kris Liset was dealt to the Port Coquitlam Saints for a player or players to be named later.

Ryan Watson was also traded to the Delta Islanders for futures and a player to be named in 2013.

In all, Burnaby gave up five of its top six scorers, plus its third-year starting goalie in trades leading up to the deadline.

Team president and general manager Richard Appels said while he hopes the moves will further strenghten the club, the junior team will get some help from the graduating intermediate players.

"For the first time in three years we're going to actually have players coming out of Burnaby - at least six maybe seven," said Appels. "We're going to be reliant on the (intermediate) draft."

Burnaby holds the fourth and eighth pick and one in the second round in the draft.

The Lakers close out the season on Sunday against New West.
