The Burnaby Lakers held their own against the vaunted Coquitlam junior Adanacs.

In the end, the junior A Lakers were outgunned 15-10 in the midweek B.C. Junior Lacrosse League matchup in Coquitlam but not before showing their coach a thing or two about their onfloor character.

Offseason acquisition Kris Liset continued his torrid scoring pace, potting four goals against the A's.

On Sunday, Liset scored five times in Burnaby's overtime win over Nanaimo, bringing his early season total to 11 goals on just 34 shots this season.

Liset tallied Burnaby's first three goals of the game, including his first shorthanded marker of the season. But Coquitlam answered with two quick goals to lead 8-3, a deficit the Lakers could not make up.

Burnaby matched the A's in shots on goal, both with 42 directed on net. But the home team proved the more accurate shooters.

"Our offence is coming around. But for us, it's going to be a long process," said Burnaby head coach John Wilson.

"We battled hard against the best team in B.C. We didn't give up, and I'm happy with that."

First-year Adanac Reid Reinholdt led the home club with four goals and four assists. Matthew Dinsdale and Vincent Ricci also had big games for Coquitlam, garnering a goal and five assists apiece.

Patrick Bayliss had 27 stops in the Burnaby net.

Burnaby is in Delta Saturday before returning home for a rematch with Coquitlam at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Sunday. Game time is 7 p.m.
