Lam lands two gold at dual meet

Burnaby’s Elaine Lam was one of two Simon Fraser University swimmers to emerge from the pool with two wins at last week’s dual meet with Whitworth University in Spokane on Saturday.
The freshman from Burnaby Mountain topped the women’s 50- and 500-metre freestyle events, with times of 25.04 and 5:18.43, respectively.
The Clan’s Gabriel Lee also picked up a pair of victories, topping the men’s 200m free (1:43.18) and 200m backstroke (1:53.62).
Overall, SFU men and women combined to win 20 of 22 races with an aggregate score of 267-140.
One of the closest races at the event was between teammates Ali Gracan and Charlene Hew in the 200m breaststroke, which Gracan won by 0.69 second (2:32.21).
The SFU men’s team remains undefeated to start the season, while the Clan women own a 2-3 record.

Di Trocchio tallies in Spartans’ victory
Burnaby forward Isabella Di Trocchio contributed offensively to help push the Trinity
Western University Spartans past the University of Manitoba 6-0 in Canadian women’s university soccer.
A fourth year player, Di Trocchio netted her fourth goal of the season at the 41st minute mark to make it 4-0.
Teammate Seina Kashima, a second-year Burnaby South alum, distributed the ball well to help create a number of scoring chances and rattled a shot off the crossbar in the 35th minute.
Trinity Western bumped its undefeated streak to 11 games, improving to 9-1-2 on the season.
