Whitney Rowe of Burnaby placed first in the women’s national 200-metre event at the Harry Jerome International Track Classic at Swangard Stadium on Monday.

Rowe, who recently graduated from Colorado Mesa University, also placed sixth in the long jump at the Burnaby meet. Rowe’s winning time in the 200m was 23.94.
St. Thomas More Collegiate high school student Zion Corrales-Nelson placed third behind Rowe in the 200m in a time of 24.47.
Burnaby Central Secondary senior Nathan Mah finished in fourth place in the men’s national 200m, with a 22.31 clocking.
Curtis Moss, a Central alum, placed third in the men’s javelin with a throw of 71.86 metres.
Krista Woodward of New Westminster was fifth in the women’s javelin at 48.87m
Simon Fraser University runners also did well in the middle-distance events.
Cameron Procevial placed second in the men’s national 800m, in a time of 1:50.38. Travis Vugteveen and Marc Antoine-Roleau were sixth and seventh, respectively, in the men’s 1,500m.
Great Northwest conference female athlete of the year, Lindsey Butterworth, was sixth in the open women’s 800m in a time of 2:04.86.
A Burnaby Striders Track Club 13-year-old relay team finished second in the 4x100m in the school-aged portion of the meet at Swangard.
