Burnaby athletes made out like bandits at the B.C. Athletics Track and Field Jamboree in Kamloops earlier this month, returning with a healthy medal bounty.

Leading the way was three-time champion Brandon Hsu of the Burnaby Striders.

Hsu, a student-athlete at Burnaby Mountain, cashed in for gold in the under-16 boys' 100-metre dash, with a time of 11.50, the 200m (23.27), and the 300m (36.43). He also posted the second-best distance in the long jump.

Also getting in on the multiple medal wins were Isabella Brunoro, Michelle Dadman and Ryan Goudron.

A Burnaby Mountain student who trains with the Royal City Track and Field Club, Brunoro won her u18 girls 2000m steeplechase in 7:27.20, and placed second in the 3000m marathon. She also came fourth in the 1500m. Dadman, a New Westminster resident who attends St. Thomas More but trains with South Surrey's track club, topped both the u18 girls shotput, with a throw of 14.57m, and the discus, at 35.27m. A Burnaby Central student-athlete, Goudron placed third in both the u18 boys 400m and 2000m steeplechase, wearing Royal City colours.

Also capturing gold were Burnaby North's Zuzanna Liniewski, in u18 hammerthrow, and STM's Kairo Chaing, in the 100m hurdles.

Running for the Vancouver Thunderbirds, Burnaby South's Taya Batiste captured silver in the u18 100m and finished fourth in the 200m dash. Burnaby Mountain's Ryan Roberts and Hannah Vorell counted strong results for their Royal City club. Roberts took bronze in the u20 boys 5000m race, while Vorell finished fourth in the u18 girls 400m and eighth in 200m. With the Kajaks track team, Mountain's Kiran Wanniarachchi picked up silver in the u18 boys high jump.

STM students Milena Kalisch and Alicia Bremer picked up medals. Kalisch, with Ocean, finished second in the u18 girls 1500m run, while the Coquitlam Cheetahs' Bremer came third in a series of u18 girls heptathlon events -- the 800m, 100m hurdles, high jump and shotput.

Burnaby Central's Robin Rohu came fourth in the u16 girls 80m hurdles, fifth in the 300m hurdles and eighth in long jump, while teammate -- both competed for the Royal City track team -- Lindsay Goudron was fourth in discus and seventh in shotput.
