Stefan Milosevic led a Hyack Swim Club wave of record-setting efforts at the 39th annual Hyack Festival Youth Cup last weekend.
The 17-year-old Cariboo Hill Secondary student won five age-group swims, setting new pool marks in each of the disciplines for the fourth-place-finishing club at the Canada Games Pool in New Westminster.
Milosevic took the gold medal in the boys' 50-, 100-and 1,500-metre freestyle swims. He also won the 200m backstroke and butterfly. The Hyack club product also placed runner-up in the 200m individual medley.
Milosevic's metric mile swim was voted the top swim of the meet.
The Hyacks also got record swims from two other club members.
Chris Baker set new marks in the 14-year-old boys' 100 and 200m fly.
Twelve-year-old up-and-comer, Ethan Laing, also set an age-group mark in the 200m breaststroke. He placed second in both the 200 and 400m IM.
In all, 32 meet records were bettered at the annual Hyack meet.
"That's pretty significant," said Hyack swim coach Mark Bottrill. "They're future Olympic hopefuls doing this outstanding stuff. It's pretty exciting to see them dig in and perform."
Hyack swimmers also set new club records at the meet in relays.
The 10-and-under girls' team of Zoe Froh, Victoria Tocheva, Jaime Lavoie and Allison Wong swam into the record book in the free relay.
Brian Ni, Dima Lin, Sehajvir Singh and Laing also set a new club mark in the 12-and-under free team event.
Ni also medalled in six other individual events, winning gold in both the 100 and 1,500m free. He placed second in the 50m free, 200m free and 200m back, while taking third in the 200m IM.
Hattie Sun, 12, won bronze in 200m back, IM, and 400m IM. Lin won a bronze medal in the 100m back.
