Burnaby's Marcus Vela was named to the roster of Team B.C.'s entry to the Western Canada under-16 Challenge Cup hockey tournament in Calgary next month.
Vela was the only player selected from a midget A1 division team in the largely B.C. major midget-dominated squad.
The Burnaby Minor forward and Northwest Giants major midget affiliate joined the Giants' Jansen Harkins on the 20-member provincial team.
Former Burnaby Winter Club bantams Mathew Barzal, Justin Szeto and New Westminster's Ty Shultz were also named to the B.C. team.
The competition will take place from Nov. 1 through 4.
